Super Napper Baby

Our Boy's day normally includes one nap that rarely lasts longer than 1 1/2 hours. Yesterday, he slept for THREE HOURS! If it wasn't for the sounds of his breathing, I would have reverted to my behaviour when he was newborn and checked to make sure he was alive every so often! Here is what a toddler's hair looks like after a super long nap:

Later in the day, he got to enjoy some pool time:

Maiden Burn

In the midst of a very busy week, we took an evening and enjoyed our new fire pit. Chicken Apple Sausages grilled over the fire and home made Macaroni and Cheese to go with them. Yum-O!

The Kid loves to play in the sand, and here is trying to blow soap bubbles.

Thank You, Grandma!

Our Kiddo has been really enjoying his new quilt that his Grandma created for him. She apologized for how long it took to make (a few starting blocks were presented at his baby shower before he was born), but He and I both know that the timing could not have been better. He is at the right age now to appreciate the colorful animals. He enjoys pointing out the "ies", and pretends to be a monkey, saying "ooo ooo".

The other day, I had draped his quilt over the couch for him to see. He then climbed up on top of it and proceeded to talk and giggle and play with it for quite a long time. After a while, I realized that his sounds had receded in exuberance, and he was instead cooing, "oooooh" with the same tone and inflection he uses when hugging me and patting my back. I looked over to find him wrapped up and cuddling with his quilt. He sat still there for so long that this Mama was absolutely amazed. Anything to get a busy toddler to hold still is pretty rare!

Connoisseur of Dirt

We have been experiencing that most lovely weather found here in the Northwest in late springtime. My Boy and I were outside today grubbing around in the flower beds, a favorite pasttime in our family; me with my red rubber-gripped aluminum spade, and He with his new caterpillar-gripped bright yellow plastic spade. He was a few feet away from me "weeding" in a bare patch of dirt, while I tackled the more serious dandelions, oxeye daisies and clover. I wasn't paying very close attention, but was just enjoying the cathartic feeling of spring gardening while listening to the wind chimes and swallows. I suddenly realized that I had heard a few "Um!"s and "Yum!"s from His direction. When I looked over to see what he was up to, this is what I saw:

He has recently been much more interested in attempting to eat from a spoon, instead of having Mommy or Daddy do it for him. I guess he thought he would fit some practice time in with his big spade "spoon"!

Here are two more gems from the day:
