You are the very first to see my latest creation.
This is the first full-sized reproduction sampler that I have designed, and will be selling as a pattern. It is based on an oldie that I have admired in my digital sampler file, but the photo I have is blurry, so I took plenty of artistic license. It took me two months to finish stitching the model. It is still unframed, but otherwise finished, and I am SO happy!
Drumroll, please...
I didn't have quite enough of the darker linen, so, in the spirit of the resourceful women in past centuries, I simply spliced another strip of linen to the bottom! I was a little nervous about how it would turn out, but I couldn't be happier with the final result.
I know that most of my readers know little or nothing about the history of samplers. Feel free to ask away, but be prepared, because I absolutely LOVE old samplers, and you will probably get bored long before I run out of things to tell you.
My brilliant Son saw it on the counter and had a great time practicing his alphabet...
And then he flipped it over to make sure I kept the back neat. :)

Big Fish
This past Saturday, we took a much-anticipated trip to the Bonneville Fish Hatchery so that Big Brother could see some really big fish. They have some very large Sturgeon in a viewing tank, and lots of rainbow trout that are out in a shallow pond where people can feed them. Our Boy also got to see a train go by, which was equally exciting to him!
After a way-too-short nap in the car:
Baby's naps are always short!
This was a small-ish sturgeon:
We waited out a huge hailstorm while down in the fish viewing house:
Sturgeon look creepy from the bottom:
"Wook, Mama! BIG FISH!"
Baby Girl really didn't care too much about the fish. This photo was taken just before she let us know that it was once again nap time, which she took in her Mama's arms while Big Brother had all the fun!
Post-Hat Hair!

Happy Birthday, Dear Farmboy
Matt's birthday was on Thursday.
We have been enjoying a week-long visit from Uncle Mike and Auntie M Twist, all the way from Southern Arizona. It was fun having them here to help celebrate the big day.
the Boy simply WOULD NOT stop asking for cake ALL DAY LONG. No matter how many times I explained that it was for his Daddy, and that we couldn't eat it until Daddy came home, he was just SO excited. And when his Daddy finally came through the door, the first words out of his mouth were, "SUPISE! CAKE!" Here he is FINALLY enjoying his dessert:

On a Warm, Sunny Day...
You must gaze up at the sky while hangin' in your front pack...
And you must bury your whole face in a Fudgsicle while sittin' on the porch swing with Daddy...
