Anticipation
To help fuel the growing excitement in our household, I gave a little assignment to the kiddos: write a letter to your favorite Disney character, letting them know that you'll be visiting soon.
The 4 1/2 year old chose Snow White (even though she hasn't seen the movie yet). I thought her artistic rendering of her favorite princess was pretty amazing. Not to mention her letter formation... I gave no help with placement or penmanship, only guiding her letter choice to make sure it was at least readable.
The First Grader was planning to write his letter to Lightning McQueen, but changed his mind at the last minute.
When I asked why he had changed his mind, my sweet boy said, "Well, I thought maybe Mater didn't get as many fan letters as McQueen".
Awwww...
Please, world... let my little boy grow up to be just as sensitive to others' feelings when he's 16, 26, 36, 46... well... forever.

Back to School
All across Oregon today, there are Mothers weeping and Mothers rejoicing.
I fall somewhere in the middle.
Sad, reluctant, not ready to let him go for full days, but not exactly weeping.
Happy that although he is a big First Grader, and wearing a rather grown-up-looking Robot t-shirt, he still wanted to take his Thomas backpack, and wear his Lightning McQueen sweatshirt.
Sad for the lack of his daily presence in the house while being rather happy and excited for his happiness and excitement.
Because I remember just how much I adored going back each Autumn. And I want him to continue to enjoy and look forward to school as well.
So I dropped him off with a healthy lunch and a secret note hidden for him to find later. A great big squeezy hug from myself and his little Sis, then we were off, and there he still is, tugging at my heartstring. Which has never been stretched this far for this long.

On A Walk
Getting fortified with blueberries before heading out...

Let's see what Daddy has been up to:

There's our house...

Looking for ladybugs:

Picking Sugar Snap peas.

I finally realized that I should probably stop shooting photos AROUND my little Papoose, and instead include her, since she's right there too...

Reaching to pick those pretty flowers!

Looking at the letters on his Mama's stepping stone.

And our growing garden from above...

Playing
There were so many photos from this particular play session, that I decided to pack them into two collages. I can't tell you how much it delights my heart to see my babies enjoying each other so much!

Charging the bed, like a racecar (note the extra-special Cars tshirt with flashing light, thanks to Grandma Whittaker, which makes him go especially fast), and the response as Big Brother approaches.
