Colors

Our Boy loves to play with his color crayons. He usually chooses to not color, instead preferring to line them all up, or stuff them up his sleeve, or some other creative option. Yesterday, he was asking me to tell him what colors they were- (he knows red, blue, green, and purple already, but likes to quiz me to test my knowledge). Here is how our conversation went:

Him: What dis?
Me: Black
Him: Black!... What dis?
Me: that one is Red
Him: Red!... What dis?
Me: Green
Him: Geen!... What dis?
Me: Orange
Him: ...
Me: that one is Orange.
Him: No, Mama! CRAYON!
Me: Its the color Orange.
Him: No, CRAYON, Mama!
Me: ...(seriously, how do you argue with a determined toddler?)

More Snow!

More photos of our big snowfall on Sunday... our little Guy going for a quad ride with his Daddy, and Bailey running behind!

Look at those rosy cheeks!

2 Weeks Old is Awfully Young

to be giving up the pacifier, but She now wants nothing to do with it, and prefers other methods of soothing. Guess I don't have to worry about her becoming an addict!

The last photo taken with her Bink...

Our two beautiful children...

Jack's Turn

So many of you have asked how our Boy is handling the transition to being Big Brother. He is doing quite well, and loves to make sure that his little sister always has a blanket close by. If he doesn't see her, he says, "Uh, Oh- Go?" wondering where she went, and he doesn't stop saying it until he is reassured that she is still in the house!

But one thing we have noticed that isn't quite so pleasant, is represented by the following photos... I was taking pictures of Baby, and when he noticed, Big Brother came running up, and started exclaiming, "No, Mama! ME!" over and over (this is a new and overly used part of his vocabulary). So, he got some camera time too...

He currently loves to sing along with all kinds of music, and picks up new songs very quickly; they may not be recognizable to most ears, but his Mama usually knows what little ditty he is attempting, and he loves it when she joins him in song!

He also can sing/recite the alphabet for the most part, and recognizes all the letters, and the numbers 1-9. He surprised us the other day in the Doctor's waiting room by looking at a stop sign on the side of a big wooden bus, and saying, "S, T, Stop!". He also started counting to 19 recently, something we had no clue that he had figured out.

Here he is playing with one of his new favorite toys, his Mama's vintage cookie cutter collection!

12 inches and still Falling!

We expected to wake to a few inches of snow this morning, but this is CRAZY! Church was even cancelled, and when Matt went out to get some milk and butter this morning, the undercarriage of the Explorer was dragging on the way up the driveway! This is a record for the almost 9 years that we have lived here, and it is expected to continue to fall for the next 24 hours at least. Anyone want to come play?

Back in the Hospital

Alternate titles:

Girl's Day at the Spa
Tanning Beauty
Blue Man Group Audition

At 4 days old Baby Girl and her Mama were admitted to the hospital again, as her bilirubin count was getting dangerously high. Our Boy had jaundice as a newborn that was bad enough for light therapy treatment as well, but we were able to do the treatment at home. It was hard on the Mama to have to leave home so soon, especially since her Firstborn had come down with a fever and sore throat and really wanted to spend time with her. But we did what needed to be done.

Thanks to everyone's prayers, we were back in the hospital less than 24 hours, and Baby Girl's count had dropped well below the usual mark for such a short treatment.

Now we are all once again happily spending time recovering together and enjoying each other's company.

Sweet Baby Girl

Our baby girl is such a sweetie, I can't help myself- gotta share some more photos! These were taken at 3 days old:

Katie's Bear

We had a fun tradition with our Firstborn, taking his photo every so often with the same bear to show his growth; it was so popular with his fan club that we decided to do the same with Baby Girl.

Here is her first photo shoot with her bear, taken at 2 days old:

She's Here!

Our Baby Girl was born on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:45 am. She weighed 7 pounds and was 19 1/2 inches long, with a perfectly round head, and lots of dark hair.

Due to blood pressure concerns, we were scheduled to arrive at 6:30 am for an induction, but Beth actually started early labor sometime in the night, and was already making progress by the time we got to the hospital. The doctor broke her water at 9:30, and our Baby arrived just over 2 hours later, making for a very fast, intense delivery. But once again, Beth was able to do it without pain killer drug intervention, and the hospital staff was kind enough to let us go home 23 hours after her birth.

Our Boy was a good boy for his Grandma Whittaker while his parents were away from home, but he missed them a lot, and is SO happy to have them back. He has shown much interest in his new sister, wanting to rock her chair, and put the pacifier in her mouth, but still calls her "Nonny", most likely because he thinks she is his cousin Donny. :)

Below are a few photos from the 10th. Rest assured, there will most definitely be more photos posted here in the days and months to come, so keep checking in to watch her grow!
