Getting a Jump on Spring

Well, my dear blog readers, we are a full two weeks, and maybe even a little more ahead of our usual Spring weather here in Oregon. The plum trees in our orchard are now in full bloom, as well as the Forsythia and Crocus, and we spent some time this weekend doing, of all things... yardwork!

I should have taken a "before" photo, but you can see by this wheelbarrow load that the flower beds were a mess when I set to work clearing them...

The kids were a big help; they followed me to the burn pile each time, picking up whatever I dropped, and then they kindly helped steer on the return trip to the yard.

Some "after" photos (the tractor was used to bring over big scoops of our favorite mulch, "medium hemlock")...

I call this one "Boy in Greenhouse with Blueberry Pancake"...

and this one is simply titled, "Nonchalant"...

Great pictures but I have to say ... that green grass is gorgeous!!! We don't have it here yet ... just trying to get rid of the snow and the earth is so drenched in mud from the 3' of snow that I think the grass is gasping for breath!!

I'm so envious! I can't wait for all the dirty snow to melt and the yard to dry out a bit so I can get my hands busy in the dirt!! Thanks for giving me hope that spring is coming!

You have the most gorgeous house Beth!!! What a dream home says I living in a little row house. :-)
Gardening looks fun with your little ones there to lend a hand.

I hope you will stop by my blog and see my interpretation of your sampler. I finished it in just a week as I could not stop. I just love it and it is now hanging proudly on my sampler wall. Why did I not know about you much earlier??? :-) Thank you for a wonderful design!

Inspirational is what I call this post! It'll be another few weeks before I can get into my (much smaller and, um, there's only 2) beds and do the annual pre-bloom/ growth pruning and clean up. Thanks for the preview!!

Looks like you all had a fun time. It's still too cold here to go out without woolly jumpers & coats etc.
