Never Too Young to Stitch

I was sitting and stitching yesterday afternoon, grabbing a few minutes to watch the news before making dinner. Little miss cutie pie snuggled up next to me with a toy, and I decided on the spot that it was about time I gave her a chance to do a little stitching for herself.

When I asked if she wanted to stitch too, her eyes brightened right up... "Yes!"

So I got out a circle of wool, a plastic needle, and red thread. I got the thread started for her and held onto the wool while she learned how to "Poke it, den powe it froo".

After only 2 or 3 pokes and pulls, she looked at me and said, "Mama, I hod it peez?"

And off she went. I can't tell you how cozy it felt to sit and stitch with my daughter.

And yes, you can be sure that I will be keeping her first masterpiece for posterity!

Awww. My little 4-year-old has been stitching over the last few weeks, too! Nothing more precious than cuddling up next to her working on her "quilt", her works are up on my blog too. So much fun!

Awww how sweet :) I can't wait till my daughter is old enough to stitch with me. She's only 8 months old yes so a long way to go. My 6 year old has done plastic canvas with me but never cross stitch!

How precious. I did the same thing with my niece when she was 3 years old (now 17) and I still have the piece she stitched attached to my work lamp.

What a sweetie!! I am proud to say that even though I have three sons and no daughters, that all of them have put needle and thread to fabric!

Wow, I think that is so wonderful. She looks to be really enjoying it and I'm sure she was pleased with her first finish.

Cherish these moments! I love it when Trevor wants to work the horses with me. I really was excited when he could actually start doing the work too. He is 7 now so when I work the pony he works the mini it is great! Nothing brings me great joy than sharing my passion with him.
