"Hey Mama! I made a Work of Funny!".

A work of funny... what kind of brain comes up with a phrase like that?

And Then it Snowed

The day after Christmas, we were given a lovely dusting of snow.

Do you think that kept my determined husband from starting a little building project outside? Nosirree! (What can it be that he is building? Stay tuned...)

A few days later, the skies opened up and 8 inches of snow fell overnight.


Do you think that kept the Mister from making his way to work? Of course not. Mountain boys aren't afraid of a little snow.

And then the skies cleared, and the temperatures fell, and it remains a snowy, white, powder-filled landscape to this day.





We like living in the Snow Zone!



Of course, the 4-wheel drive decided to go out in my Explorer, so we are now driving a rental while it is in the shop. I don't mind so much though, since the rental is about 15 years newer and much shinier.

Oh, and because I know you will ask, I didn't make the super-cute hat that I'm wearing... it was a Christmas present, which my friend bought for me from this etsy seller.

The Pocketwatch Ornaments

I had intended on including a link when I posted ornament photos yesterday, but my internet connection has been so lousy lately, and yesterday especially, that I got frustrated and completely forgot about the link.

Several of you asked, so thank you for keeping me on my toes!

I did not make them, but purchased them in this etsy shop. I think that they would be relatively easy to make yourself, if you have a special watch on hand, but I can't offer any advice, since I took the easy route.

She sets the time permanently at 11:55, as if time were frozen on the verge of Christmas Day. And out of the large amount of ornaments she had listed, only two of them had anything to do with trains. Having just watched the Polar Express with the kids a few nights before, my resistance was completely down, and I spent way more money on them than I would normally put out for an ornament. But they are magically delightful, and I haven't regretted the purchase for one second.

Good Christmas morning to you All... I don't know about your house, but its about to get crazy around here. Stockings, stuffed crepes, bacon and coffee, lots of presents, then lots of playing and just being together.

As I sit here, in the stillness of a Christmas Eve afternoon, there are things both heavy and light on my heart. The song "Winter Snow", written by Audrey Assad is on repeat via iTunes, fueling my contemplation. A soothing, encouraging, reminder of the Peace brought to earth that day so long ago.
