Under every tree they gather,
on a bed of emerald green,
leaves showing their true colors,
spreading brilliance around the trunk of their Mother.
Cherry, Maple, Pussywillow, Grape,
Oak, Magnolia, Dogwood.
Leaving the arms that held them in sunshine,
their purpose to feed her, give her life energy
they now go down to enrich her roots,
radiant children in puddles of glorious color.

Autumn Comes
It comes with drop and gust and mist and web;
with cloud and color and damp and blaze;
with crackle and waft and drip and blow;
with rustle and fall and cozy and glow.
Autumn comes.
Just a little Autumn celebration courtesy of the last 24 hours captured on film, and the wanderings of my brain.

Hello, November
You, with the crisp mornings
and long nights,
swirling leaves
and fog-shrouded hills.
Welcome!
You, with the long, low, angles of light
and heavy banks of clouds,
scarlet, persimmon, curry,
chartreuse leaves... and lichen.
You, with the dripping eaves
and mushrooms,
arriving winter birds
and pumpkin pies.
Each time you roll in with color and flavor
...then leave with a sigh.

swirling leaves
and fog-shrouded hills.

Make
No matter how small, calloused, or un-practiced your hands may be,
go out and use them to make something Beautiful today.
For wherever our hearts pour out through our hands, beauty can be found.

Ode to Trees
Looking out, the little tree saw them,
Standing proud and tall,
Bathed in the light of a setting sun.
Oh! to stand in such a way,
Tall and straight and wild,
With moss and owl and squirrel as ornament.
Looking in, they saw the little tree,
Standing sweet and pure,
Resplendant in memories and lights.
Oh! to stand in such a way,
Small and bright and true,
With glass and tin and love as ornament.
Looking on, she saw them all,
Standing in such different ways,
Bathed in light and memories.
Together, reflecting each other,
A forest spanning glass,
Different, the same, ornaments of her story.

Betcha Didn't Know I'm a Poet
"I'd really rather not", said I,

"pluck a cotton ball from the sky...

for a person never knows,
from where it came or where it goes".

-Beth Twist
Yep. Ask anyone who knows me well... that's the way this brain of mine works... I see fluffy, whimsical clouds, and suddenly I'm in LaLa Land, composing a silly, rhyming ditty.
Next thing you know, I'll be designing a cloud sampler.

Hello, December
You, with your hard frost and soft snow,
stark skies and bare branches, Hello.
Your promise of festive delights,
heartfelt carols and family embrace
beckons me.

Project Christmas Decoration Takeover has commenced!
And in true Beth fashion, inspiration struck in the midst of decorating yesterday, and therefore the decorating came to a screeching halt. That space on my kitchen wall, I decided, NEEDS a Partridge in a Pear Tree penny rug. And my search online for an existing pattern did not turn up anything that was "just" what I wanted. So, I dug into my scraps (first rule... no new stash is to be acquired), and started this:
