In between samplers, while waiting on my order of WDW floss, I stitched up this little reproduction love token...
I made it as close to the original as I could (an image I found online of an antique), stitched it "over one" on 28 count linen, backed it with a piece of wool, and blanket stitched the edges. The background fabric is a reproduction cotton. The little frame I painted and rubbed with wax, some of the original green (its a new frame) and my added bittersweet are peeking through the brown top coat. I can't decide if I'll put glass in front, or let it breathe the air, but I'm leaning toward the latter. What do you think?

how in the world do you find the time?! I have a pile of mending that is sitting here waiting for me to get to, fabric that I bought a year ago waiting to be stitched into something, but I don't have the time. You are amazing!
You have twice as many kids as I, and your house is probably much cleaner than mine.
I get most of it done in the two hours after the kids are in bed, before I head off to sleep. I can't help it... I'm a bit of a stitching addict. And I don't read books anymore.
This is beautiful. I appreciate your creativity and skill.
I am not expert, but I lean toward no glass-let it breathe!
Oh my gosh do I love this. The fabric and colors. You would think that it was something really old. I admire your creativity!!! I'd leave the glass off. I think it adds to it's "old" look without the glass on! Really love this!!
You are so talented! I love the colors in this and the fabric you chose fits perfectly. I would leave the glass off. Love it just like that! The dilemma I have to about glass is that I think it does offer some protection against getting soiled but really if you think about it, vintage linen is supposed to already look old.
Great stitching, love it!

Gorgeous! I love it! And the framing couldn't be more perfect. I agree that it should go glass-free ;)

Love this piece. I think this little bird wants to breath air! : )
Beth ~ I LOVE this piece! The framing is perfect! I almost always prefer no glass on needlework - I prefer to see the textures.
Beautiful job!
