Pick Your Puppy Day II

The remaining two litters of pups were made available to those on their registration list on Saturday. It was another crazy morning. We had the same rules... no requests or deposits accepted until 10am.

This time we had a couple of someones in our driveway at 9am. One of them brought us donuts... care to venture a guess at who was the kids' favorite?

We again made people wait until the stated time of 10am because although we already had a full house by then, we knew that some people weren't able to be here in person and were waiting to call in their request.

We are so pleased how this portion of the process has gone. There may have been a small amount of tension in the air, but in the end, everyone who had their heart set on a certain puppy got the one they were after.

And we now know the names for many of our pups... Copper, Maggie, Scout, Zoe, Inez, and Moose...

Lincoln...

Tucker...

Hurley...

As I type this post, our fourth Mama, Lucie, is in isolation with Doc, and he is following her around like he is tied to her tail. I predict the next litter being born around the second week in June.

And now, if you have Puppy Fever, here is something to help... a wallpaper for your widescreen computer monitor. Just click and save... personal use only, please...

What I've Been Working On

The sampler that I've recently given you a few peeks at is almost finished. But it has taken nearly 2 solid months, which feels like an eternity to this quick stitcher.

So this weekend, while spending lots of time on the couch getting over my cold, I started and finished the next Let Us Be Truly Thankful. I am calling it the May Flowers Edition.

It felt so good to both start and finish a piece in just two days. So good, as a matter of fact, that I attacked the aforementioned big sampler with a vengeance, and am now just an hour or two away from finishing.

Which means I can finally allow myself to pull threads for the next sampler... another new design that I have been itching to get started for the last month.

So keep your eyes open, because the plan is to have two new patterns available by this Friday.

Friday

The good news today is that the snow has all melted and the sun is shining. It might even breach 50 degrees out this afternoon.

The bad news is that what I thought was a mild cold has attacked me with a vengeance and I feel cruddier (is that a word?) than I have in a long time.

So I will leave you with this moment I captured recently, of the kids during a phone conversation with Daddy (that's a naked Mr. Potato Head in her hands). It didn't really fit in anywhere else, but was too cute to keep to myself.

Happy Friday to you... I'm going to go plant myself on the couch and stitch awhile.

Snow for Breakfast

I was so excited when I looked out my window this morning and saw this:

It has been so dry around here lately that we really needed this extra dose of cold and wet.

Really needed it, I say.

The water table is so low right now in our area that the ground is just going to soak this snow up like a sponge.

And since I hate Spring flowers and singing Birds so much, this weather is just perfect for me.

Who needs nice weather in April when they can have snow for breakfast?

For those who are a bit confused, yes, there is indeed large quantities of sarcasm inserted in between every word of this post.

Pick Your Puppy Day

We had our first Puppy Deposit day on Saturday. The first 8 people who had registered for her litter were given the chance to come out or call with their puppy number choice and give us their down payment.

We told them that we would start taking their requests at 10am.

We had people showing up in our driveway at 9:30. We stuck to our guns though, and didn't take requests until 10.

By 10:09, it was all over. I was on phone duty in the house, so I missed out on the initial excitement in the kennel, and when I walked in, this is what I saw...

Happy people holding full-of-breakfast sleepy puppies.

Content for the first time in weeks of anticipation, and in some cases, lost sleep due to the excitement, these were people who hadn't a worry in the world, if even for just that moment.

This is what makes the hard part of this business more than worth it to us.

And we get to do it all over again this coming weekend, for we now have numbers assigned to the final two litters. Ready for another cuteness overload?

Stitching

Because I have a crazy busy day ahead of me, and no time to compose a real blog post... another wallpaper for your personal use:

A close-up of a sweet French needlepoint piece that I found on etsy, and which will most likely end up being charted in the near future.

Picture of the Week

And just because it is too cute to ignore, lets zoom out a bit and catch the greater context of the Picture of the Week...
