Ouch!

When I first saw that egg (see it?) I felt sorry for the hen that laid it.

I wondered if laying an egg that enormous hurt her as badly as natural childbirth hurt me.

Then I figured, nah... because if it hurt that bad, there would be screaming chickens all day out in the hen house.

That is the biggest egg I have ever seen. I have a phobia of brown eggs for some reason and no idea why. I wont eat them. My mom use to have to buy me white eggs, or cook the brown ones and lie to me and say the shell was white. I'm sure they all taste the same, the whole brown shelled egg, still scares me *sigh*

My husband has a saying (he's from New England) ... brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are fresh. It's a ditty from a childhood commercial he remembers and I used to make fun of him for never having white eggs growing up. I never had brown eggs UNTIL just a few years ago. They are better - more tasty and I buy them quite often even if they are more pricey around here.

That IS a biggun! lol

Chicken eggs are chicken eggs, color depends on the breed. Although, I am partial to brown or the Aracauna colored eggs. I bet that is a double yolker!!!! We used to get those on occasion! She'll probably lay more! Awesome!!!!

I would put good money on that being a double yoker! One of Trevor's chickens kept laying eggs like that and it was before the ducks were laying. I was certain it was a duck egg until the ducks finally started laying and their eggs are white! Lol! Enjoy!
